Happy New Year to you all – I hope you, your family and friends are safe and well and of course coping in these difficult times.
The purpose for contacting you today is to inform you that the Club Grants Scheme will be closing on 15th January 2021, as notified on the BJA Web site.
As you are hopefully aware this funding is intended to support the revival of clubs and the return of members within the nine English Areas, once the lockdown has been lifted. All registered clubs within the BJA’s English Areas are eligible and can therefore apply for a one-off grant award of up to £500.00. The grant will be available to support revenue funded activities such as coaching and member costs, also running costs.
If you want to submit an application please be mindful that the criteria includes a focus on reducing the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on activity levels in under-represented groups, ensuring gaps between those who are active and those who aren’t, does not widen during this period. Therefore, any funding that clubs apply for must be aimed at supporting the return to judo for the following primary priority groups – Lower Social Economic Groups (LSEG), Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), Disabled People or People with Long Term Health Conditions. Other secondary priority groups may include Women and Girls, Older People and/or Children and Young People (CYP). If you complete an application form for your club you will need to ensure that you tick one of the boxes for the primary/secondary priority groups described above, within your application.
If you would like help or support in completing your application including “priority groups” you can contact the following who will be able to assist:
Chris Doherty – BJA National Development Officer: chris.doherty@britishjudo.org.uk mobile 07967781663
Nick Shepherd – BJA National Development Officer: nick.shepherd@britishjudo.org.uk mobile 07887 453112
In the meantime if you would like to discuss wider NHC business, please feel free to contact me or any members of the NHC Committee, whose details are on the NHC Web site.
I and the Committee wish you the very best, stay safe and well
