Welfare & Safeguarding Children

As a member of the British Judo Association, ALL Northern Home Counties clubs must uphold the principle that all children or vulnerable persons whatever their age, nationality, disability, gender, race, religion and/or sexual identity have the right to protection from abuse.

The coaches and volunteers of the clubs are committed to the welfare and protection of children and young people so that they can enjoy judo in a safe, friendly environment without fear, threat or abuse.

Northern Home Counties Area and member clubs adhere to the British Judo Association’s Child Protection Policy.

Concerned about possible abuse or bad practice within a judo environment? Please contact your club’s welfare officer

The role of the Welfare Officer involves:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for volunteers, parents and children, where concerns about a child’s welfare, poor practice or child abuse arise.
  • Assist the club to fulfill its responsibilities to safeguard children and young people.
  • Assist the club to implement its child protection policy.
  • Ensuring all coaches and volunteers uphold the principals of the club’s child protection policy and maintain the highest standards.
